California Lions - Friends in Sight
On Sunday, October 27th, 2013: Friends in Sight did a vision screening as part of the Sai Baba Health Faire in Oxnard. We arrived late Saturday afternoon to set up for the next day's activity.
The vision screening began at 9:00am and the last patient of the day was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 4:00pm. Listed below is a synopsis of the day's vision screening findings:
- 416 patients were seen for the day.
- Of the 416, 23 needed no prescription, 32 need to be made at the optical lab and 361 received recycled eyeglasses.
- 1 patient needs surgical treatment for a chalazion.
- 1 patient needs treatment for blepharospasm.
- 8 patients need surgical treatment for their cataracts.
- 1 patient needs treatment for diabetic maculopathy.
- 1 patient needs treatment for strabismus.
- 2 patients need laser peripheral iridotomies for narrow anterior chamber angles.
- 1 patient needs treatment for a bacterial conjunctivitis.
- 1 patient needs treatment for a central retinal venous occlusion.
- 6 patients need treatment for glaucoma.
- 1 patient needs a 6 month follow up on background diabetic retinopathy.
- 1 patient needs a DFE for flashes and floaters.
- 1 patient needs a contact lens fit secondary to monocular aphakia.
- 1 patient needs a pterygium excision on one eye.
With our examination equipment and eyeglass racks repacked we said our good-byes and departed for our staging areas at 5:00pm. By 8:00pm we had arrived at the Yucaipa staging area and 15 minutes later in Beaumont.
